Parents, educators and more than a few classmates from other grades filled the room and watched from the doorway as eight students were celebrated for at a Moving Up ceremony at SWBOCES’ Irvington Middle-High School program.

Principal Julia Dolan told the graduates to make their stories a masterpiece.
“We’re incredibly proud of you,” Ms. Dolan told them. “We celebrate everything you’ve done and look forward to all you accomplish in the years ahead.”
Teachers read short essays they prepared for each student, sharing their impressions of them as they progressed in the program here and there hopes for them in the future. Two students, Titus and Kmari, who came through the program and are now graduating from high school attended the event to share their support and words of advice as well.
Tears mixed with smiles among the parents, grandparents and other well-wishers on hand. After the brief ceremony, each student was given gift bags prepared by Ms. Dolan and teacher Hollie Smith. Cookies, cupcakes and other treats festooned with graduation decorations rounded out the celebratory atmosphere. Many hugs and family photos concluded the event.
