Students in Ms. Tiffany Kittrell's class on the Rye Lake Lower Campus kicked off their first full week of the Extended School Year by putting their culinary skills to work in the campus's newly updated Life Skills Room!
Throughout the week, our chefs-in-training planned, prepared, and enjoyed a variety of delicious breakfasts, including pancakes, crispy bacon, turkey sausage, and colorful yogurt parfaits. More than just cooking, these hands-on lessons gave students the opportunity to practice important life skills such as following directions, measuring ingredients, taking turns, making choices, and cleaning up after themselves. Every recipe encouraged teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and independence while building confidence in the kitchen.
"The smiles, laughter, and sense of accomplishment made it clear that learning can be both meaningful and fun," Assistant Principal Michael Guida shared. "We are so proud of the hard work and enthusiasm shown by the students in Ms. Kittrell's class and can't wait to see what our talented chefs create next!"
