Rochambeau School

Principal's Message

 Julia DolanDear Families,

It is with great excitement and deep gratitude that I introduce myself as the principal of our elementary TSP-I program at the Rochambeau School.  I am honored to continue my work with this vibrant community of learners, educators, and families, and I look forward to partnering with each of you to ensure that every student thrives academically, socially, and emotionally.
This move is a significant milestone in our school's journey.  Our new location at the Rochambeau School will provide enhanced learning spaces, updated facilities, and greater opportunities to support student growth and development. We are confident that this change will bring many positive benefits to our students, staff, and families.
I understand that a transition like this can bring questions and concerns. Please know that we are committed to making this move as smooth as possible, and we will share additional information as it becomes available.
I deeply value my partnership with each of you, and we are excited to begin this next chapter together. Thank you for your continued support and trust in our school community. We look forward to welcoming you to our new home!
Sincerely,
Principal Julia Dolan
  • Rochambeau students visit Dr. Davies Farm, bring back classroom lessons

Rochambeau School's 4th and 5th grade TSP-I class had a wonderful experience visiting Dr. Davies Farm, picking apples and pumpkins, exploring the winding corn maze, and enjoying a spooky hayride!

Back in the classroom, students built on this exciting experience through both writing and science. In writing, students reflected on their adventure by crafting opinion pieces about their favorite part of the trip: apple picking, the corn maze, or the hayride, using strong reasons and vivid details to support their ideas. In science, they deepened their learning by exploring why leaves change color in the fall and comparing this process to how animals hibernate. The lessons connected to our farm visit, noting how both plants and animals adapt to conserve energy and survive through the colder months

  • Rochambeau School welcomes students on the first day of school

A new site and a new assistant principal, but plenty of familiar faces get the new year off right

It was a day of firsts at Rochambeau School in White Plains as staff at the newly opened Southern Westchester BOCES Special Services programs there welcomed arriving students for the first day of the school year.

“We are so delighted to greet our students and welcome them into these new spaces,” Principal Julia Dolan said. “The children were reassured to see the familiar faces of our instructional staff, and that will make for a truly successful transition. Thanks to the support our administration and our partners in the White Plains Schools, the school year ahead will be a great one.”

Ms. Dolan, a veteran administrator who oversees programs at Rochambeau and at Irvington Middle and High School, was joined by new Assistant Principal Maria Almeida greeting students as buses rolled by the Fisher Avenue school. Teachers, Teaching Assistants and Teacher Aides embraced and high-fived students carrying new backpacks and wearing their first-day-of-school best.

  • Extended School Year students celebrate summer at Rochambeau School

Southern Westchester BOCES Students at Rochambeau School enjoyed a break from their school day to participate in carnival-style games, face painting, refreshing water activities, and enjoyed ice cream off an ice cream truck.

Students played games, including inflatable axe throwing, skee ball, ring toss, and racing through a bouncy castle slide. The summer fun wouldn’t have been complete without a way to stay cool, so organizers ran water games for students in a shady spot at the front of the school. To end the event, students were able to select a treat of choice off the ice cream truck.  The event wouldn’t have been such a success without the partnership of The Disability Guys, who funded and organized the event, as well as Lifting Up Westchester.

“We just moved to Rochambeau in July, so it’s nice for them to take a break and have fun and to have new opportunities to collaborate outside of the program,” said Principal Julia Dolan. “It’s a nice event to have on a beautiful summer day.”
