Student achievement lauded at Rye Lake Campus Honors Ceremony

Familiar scene set as students once again rise to academic challenge

counselor and principal pose with student holding certificateThirty-one Rye Lake Campus middle and high school students were recognized Feb.  7 for their academic achievement.

In what has become a familiar scene, the school's meeting room was decked out with blue, white and gold balloons for the quarterly Honor Roll ceremony. Family members, teachers and Southern Westchester BOCES officials helped fill the room for the academic celebration. Principal Eric Ford and his  leadership team elevated the event in recent years to drive home the value placed on learning, and students have responded positively to the recognition.

The event celebrates students’ hard work, dedication and achievements. Making Honor Roll represents  outstanding academic performance, commitment to learning and perseverance.

Twelve high school students and 17 middle schoolers were recognized and presented certificates of achievement. Many posed for photos with Mr. Ford, Assistant Principal Maureen Salka and School Counselor Cristina Tompkins.

“This is always a rewarding celebration, not just for the students and their families, but for us as educators to see our students excel," Mr. Ford said. "Obviously we are proud of the results, but their willingness to strive for excellence and the choices they make in order to succeed are what will truly make a difference for them in the long run."
