In her address, Principal Diana Dinzey recognized the unwavering support of families and the tireless work of educators and specialists.

Each graduate was celebrated for their educational journey and the unique spirit they brought to the community — from Amal Hassan’s singing voice, Arnie Williams’s love of exploration, and Austin Jeffries’s smile, to Dionne Heath’s deep reflection, Miles Savage’s dancing, Travis Shabanaj’s hard work and David Borjas’s expert communication using his AAC device.

“These are not just graduates — they are bright stars, each with a powerful story and a beautiful future,” Ms. Dinzey said.

Each student was recognized as a shining individual with stories of resilience, creativity, and growth. The ceremony featured the presentation of the Bob Newman Award, named in memory of a former student, to six of the seven graduates, the seventh having received the award previously.

Teacher Patrice Cookes led a musical performance of “A Sky Full of Stars,” capturing the energy and promise of the graduating class. The audience then enjoyed a moving slideshow crafted by occupational therapist Mike Novick.

During the presentation of diplomas, teachers shared personal reflections as they introduced each graduate to applause. The ceremony closed with a recognition of community partners, whose involvement enriched student experiences beyond the classroom.

“I want to thank every one of you — families, staff, partners, and friends — for making this day so special,” Ms. Dinzey said. “To our graduates: we are so proud of you. You’ve grown, you’ve thrived, and you’ve inspired us all. Your journey doesn’t end here; it begins anew.”
