Tappan Hill School food drive brings out spirit of giving
Partnership with Feeding Westchester ensures a Happy Thanksgiving for those in need
Thanksgiving is a season for giving at Tappan Hill school, where students and staff once again participated in a food drive in collaboration with Feeding Westchester, collecting a school-record 944 pounds of food.
Each year, the school arranges to collect non-perishable items in the main hallway. Students take an active part in the project, helping to create and distribute flyer and contributing needed items to the collection point.
“Everything we do at Tappan Hill is an instructional and learning opportunity,” Principal Francesca Fernandez. “The students truly embrace Thanksgiving and enjoy taking part in the food drive. I’m thrilled each year at the generosity of our Tappan Hill community!”
Ms. Fernandez thanked the Tappan Hill Connected Learning Team for organizing the food drive and custodians Joe and Adam for assisting with the delivery.
Assistant Principal Jonathan Remeny said there had been an overwhelming show of support by the Tappan Hill community this holiday season.
“Thanks to their generosity, others in need will be able to have much needed essentials. A special thank you to everyone that participated in the food drive,” Mr. Remeny said.
That generosity has been so great that items have already been moved to a nearby storage point to make room in the hallway as more and more arrives each day. The donations will benefit families in need across Westchester County this Thanksgiving. Thank you to all who have contributed so far.
We wish a happy, healthy and safe Thanksgiving to all our families!
