Tappan Hill students honored for community collaboration
Tappan Hill students, volunteers honored at annual recognition
Volunteers honored along with students for resilience in the face of challenges
Tappan Hill School educators Kris Cook, Jonathan Remeny, Francesca Fernandez and Lexi Daus accompanied students from Kris Cook’s class to the 9th Annual RISE Volunteer Recognition Celebration at the Greenburgh Library in Elmsford.
Ms. Fernandez, Tappan Hill's Principal, presented awards to the students for their work with volunteers from ARC Westchester, who in turn were honored for their extreme resilience! Those volunteers returned this school year having to adjust to the assignment of working with a new team. Between changes at the school and with their own staff, the volunteers were not sure that the assignment would continue to work.
Through their advocacy and collaboration, this group of young ladies worked to solve these challenges. They advocated for themselves, provided feedback and ended up staying the entire year at the Tappan Hill School!
"We are grateful to continue to have the group as a part of the Tappan Hill school and for making such an important impact on the lives of our students!" Ms. Fernandez said.
She also presented an award on behalf of the ARC Westchester team to volunteer Dejahnae DeeDee Ashman for her work volunteering with students. Special thanks to Volunteer NY’s Patti Colombo for her work in support of volunteers at SWBOCES!
